Apprentice Ellie scoops top award

Bridgnorth Aluminium apprentice Ellie Pjetri has been crowned the best in the region at a sparkling awards ceremony.

Ellie was named Shropshire Apprentice of the Year and Business Legal & Finance apprentice of the year at the 2026 Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Apprenticeship Awards.

The ceremony, held in Telford, was told: “Ellie has willingly taken on responsibilities beyond those typically expected of an apprentice, and staff say her initiative has played a key role in making improvements to HR processes, pre-employment screening and management information reports.

“She has quickly become a valued and trusted member of the HR team who also now delivers career talks to those looking to follow in her footsteps.”

Award judges were told Ellie opted for an apprentice route with the company and started a CIPD Level 3 HR Support in January 2026.

She rapidly developed her analytical skills and built a strong understanding of key systems and processes before progressing to design and maintain weekly starters, leavers and internal move reports for stakeholders throughout the business.

She has since played a major part in maintaining accurate systems data, developing manager training, creating a user friendly ‘Chronicle’ induction for all new starters, booking external training courses, delivering careers talks and introducing new tracking registers so HR has greater visibility of who has completed training.

The impact Ellie has made on her colleagues and the wider business has been continually recognised, with mentor Faye Hopkins hailing her for her genuine commitment and proactive attitude.

“Ellie has exceeded expectations throughout her apprenticeship and has quickly become a valued and trusted member of our HR team,” said Faye.

“I have no doubt that Ellie has the capability, ambition and potential to enjoy a highly successful career, making her an outstanding candidate.”

Now with plans to study CIPD level five, Ellie’s longer-term ambition is to move into a HR administrator or associate role within the company.
